RH FACTOR TEST

Rh factor test is a protein present upon the surface of the red blood that is inherited. You are an Rh positive if the protein is present in your blood, while Rh negative means your blood lacks protein.

Furthermore, the most prevalent blood type is Rh positive. The Rh negative blood type is not really a disease and has no impact on your health. However, it may have an impact on your pregnancy. Whether you’re Rh negative and your kid is Rh positive, you’ll need to take extra precautions during your pregnancy. Besides, the Rh factor can be inherited from either parent.

Within your first prenatal visit, your health care physician may suggest the blood type and Rh factor clinical examination. Your blood cells would be able to indicate if you’ve the Rh factor protein, if you complete this test.

Why Is the RH Factor Test Done?

This test is done in order to prevent complications in your pregnancy. This is because whether you’re Rh-negative, as well as the baby you’re having is Rh positive, complications can arise during pregnancy.

However, unless you’re Rh-negative and the baby is Rh-positive, your doctor may recommend an Rh immune globulin injections in instances where your blood could come into touch with the baby’s blood, such as:

  • Delivery
  • Pregnancy-related abdominal trauma
  • High blood loss during pregnancy
  • The exterior manually rotating position of a newborn
  • Molar pregnancies removal
  • Amnio Sensitivity
  • Chorionic villus sample
  • Cordocentesis
  • Ectopic pregnancy
  • Miscarriage
  • Abortion

What Can You Expect During the Rh Factor Test?

The basic blood test is an Rh factor test. In the first prenatal appointment, a blood sample is normally obtained and submitted to the lab for analysis. It is not necessary to do any pre-reading activities. Besides, this test is not as rigorous as others.

Results

If you are Rh positive, there is no need to take any action. However, when you’re Rh negative, and your kid is Rh positive, your body may create antibodies that can be more dangerous than during subsequent pregnancy if you’re Rh negative.

If you experience vaginal bleeding at every point throughout your pregnancy, call your doctor right once. Also, talk to your doctor about getting an Rh immune globulin injection while you’re pregnant, and make sure your doctor is aware of your Rh status throughout childbirth.
