REMOXIPRIDE

Remoxiprideis a drug that is also known as an atypical antipsychotic. It is highly selective for dopamine D2-receptors and is often used to treat schizophrenia and other psychoses.

Remoxipride is used in the treatment of schizophrenia and other psychoses.

Do not use in people with allergy to Remoxipride

  • Porphyria
  • Comatose states
  • CNS depression
  • Pheochromocytoma
  • Lactation
  • History of blood disorders

Remoxipride may have the following side effects:

  • Extrapyramidal effects in neonates
  • Parkinsonian symptoms
  • Gastrointestinal disturbances
  • Nasal congestion
  • Antimuscarinic symptoms
  • Blood dyscrasias
  • Photosensitization
  • Hepatitis and jaundice
  • Aplastic anemia

Take extra caution in patients with the following medical conditions:

  • Liver impairment
  • Kidney impairment
  • Cardiovascular disease
  • Parkinson’s disease
  • Epilepsy
  • Depression
  • Myasthenia gravis
  • Prostatic hypertrophy
  • Severe respiratory disease
  • Blood dyscrasias
  • History of jaundice
  • Elderly
  • Pregnancy

 

Interactions

Remoxipride may interact with the following medicines:

  • Antacids containing aluminium/magnesium hydroxide and sucralfate
  • Moclobemide
