RECOMBINANT COAGULATION FACTOR VIIA

Recombinant human coagulation Factor VIIa (rFVIIa) is used to treat hemorrhagic problems caused by hemophilia A and B. It promotes hemostasis by triggering the pathway of the coagulation cascade.

For treatment of hemorrhagic complications in hemophilia A and B

Do not give this drug to people with the following conditions:

  • Hypersensitivity to eptacog alfa (activated) or to mouse protein
  • Rare hereditary problems of fructose intolerance
  • Glucose malabsorption or sucrose-isomaltase insufficiency

Recombinant Coagulation Factor VIIA may have the following side effects:

  • Venous thromboembolic events
  • Pruritus
  • Pyrexia

Precautions

Take extra caution in patients with the following medical conditions:

  • Advanced atherosclerotic disease
  • Crush injury
  • Septicaemia or disseminated intravascular coagulation
  • Patients with history of heart disease
  • Liver disease
  • Undergoing major surgery
  • Risk of thromboembolic phenomena or disseminated intravascular coagulation
  • Pregnancy
  • Lactation
  • Neonates

Interactions

Recombinant Coagulation Factor VIIA may interact with the following medicines:

  • Prothrombin complex concentrates (activated or not)
  • Antifibrinolytics; rFXIII
