PYRETHRINS + PIPERONYL BUTOXIDE

Pyrethrin and piperonyl butoxide shampoo is used to deal with lice (small insects that attach themselves to the skin on the ear, body, or pubic area (‘crabs’) in adults and children 2 years of age and older. Pyrethrin and piperonyl butoxide is in a category of medicines known as pediculicides. It works via killing lice.

It is normally used on the skin and hair in two to three sessions. The second treatment session should be carried out 7-10 days after the first one. Sometimes a third session may be vital, as recommended by your medical doctor. Follow the directions on your prescription or on the package label cautiously, and ask your physician or pharmacist to provide an explanation for any part that you do not understand.

Use pyrethrin and piperonyl butoxide shampoo as directed. Do not use more or less of it or use it greater often than directed on the label or prescribed by your physician.

Avoid getting pyrethrin and piperonyl butoxide shampoo on your eyes, nostril, mouth, or vagina. Do not apply it to your eyebrows or eyelashes

Keep this medication inside the box that comes with it, tightly closed, and out of reach of children. Store it at room temperature and far away from too much warmth and moisture (not within the bathroom).

Pyrethrin and piperonyl butoxide shampoo can also have adverse effects. Tell your medical doctor if any of those symptoms are severe or cannot be treated:

  • Itching of skin or scalp region
  • Redness of pores and skin or scalp

Some consequences can be extreme. If you experience any of these symptoms, contact your medical doctor at once:

  • Trouble breathing
  • Continued infection of the skin or scalp
  • Infected or pus filled regions of the skin or scalp

Pyrethrin and piperonyl butoxide shampoo can also lead to other consequences. Call your medical doctor when you have any uncommon issues while using this remedy.

Before using pyrethrin and piperonyl butoxide shampoo:

  • Tell your medical physician and pharmacist in case you are allergic to pyrethrin, piperonyl butoxide, chrysanthemums, ragweed, some other medicines, or any of the materials in pyrethrin and piperonyl butoxide shampoo. Ask your pharmacist for a list of the additives.
  • Tell your medical doctor if you have or have ever had skin problems
  • Tell your medical doctor in case you are pregnant, plan to be pregnant, or are breast-feeding. If you become pregnant while using pyrethrin and piperonyl butoxide shampoo, call your physician.
  • It is important to apply pyrethrin and piperonyl butoxide shampoo once in 7 to 10 days after the primary application. Call your doctor for further instructions

If someone swallows pyrethrin and piperonyl butoxide shampoo, contact your nearby poison control center. If the person has collapsed or is not breathing, call nearby emergency services or 911.
