Pilocarpine is a drug that is known as a tertiary amine parasympathomimetic that leads to the stimulation of the cholinergic receptors in the eyes, causing pupillary constriction, spasm of convenience and decrease of intraocular pressure (IOP). It can also relieve increased pressure in the mouth. It may be used for angle closure glaucoma before surgery, as well as open angle glaucoma. It brings about pupil constriction in the eyes.
