PARACETAMOL + METOCLOPRAMIDE

Metoclopramide is a drug that belongs to a class of medicines known as dopamine antagonists. It binds to D2 receptors in the brain and nerves. It has anticholinesterase and can stop vomiting. Paracetamol can relieve fever and pain.

Uses

Paracetamol + Metoclopramide is for the treatment of migraine.

Warnings

Paracetamol + Metoclopramide should not be given to breastfeeding women as well as children less than 12 years.

Side Effects

Paracetamol + Metoclopramide can give rise to the following side effects:

Nausea
Allergic reactions
Skin rashes
Acute renal tubular necrosis
Constipation or diarrhoea
Drowsiness
Headache
Depression
Lassitude
Extrapyramidal reactions (especially if combined with phenothiazines)
Galactorrhoea
Parkinsonism
Neuroleptic malignant syndrome
Tardive dyskinesia.
Blood dyscrasias (e.g. thrombocytopenia, leucopenia, neutropenia, agranulocytosis)
Liver damage
Hypertensive crisis in patients with pheochromocytoma

Caution should be taken in the following cases:

Porphyria
Epilepsy
Parkinsonism
History of depression
Pregnancy
Renal or hepatic impairment
Phaeochromocytoma

Interactions

Paracetamol + Metoclopramide may interact with the following medicines:

Anticholinergics
Opioid analgesics
