Oxolinic Acid

Oxolinic Acid is a quinolone, an antibacterial agent with similar properties to nalidixic acid which targets gram-negative bacteria that is responsible for causing urinary tract infection. It obstructs bacterial DNA replication by inactivating bacterial DNA gyrase or topoisomerase II, an enzyme essential for DNA synthesis.
