OMISERTINIB

Omisertinib is a type of cancer medicine that belongs to the class of protein kinase inhibitors. Specifically, it is a powerful tyrosine kinase inhibitor that is taken orally. It selectively inhibits epidermal growth factor receptors with mutations. It has high potency against non-small cell lung cancers.

This drug inhibits the development and spread of malignant cells in the body.

Omisertinib in the treatment of the following:

  • Locally advanced or metastatic non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) which has progressed on or after initial therapy

There is no data regarding contraindications to Omisertinib. Do not give if with hypersensitivity to this drug.

Omisertinib may have the following side effects:

  • Diarrhea
  • Stomatitis
  • Rash
  • Dry skin
  • Paronychia
  • Pruritus
  • Decreased platelet count, leukocytes andneutrophils
  • Interstitial lung disease

Precautions

Take extra caution in patients with the following medical conditions:

  • Congestive heart failure
  • Electrolyte abnormalities
  • Torsade de pointes
  • Polymorphic ventricular tachycardia
  • Signs and symptoms of serious arrhythmia
  • Lacrimation
  • Light sensitivity
  • Blurred vision
  • Eye pain

 

Interactions

Omisertinib may interact with the following medicines:

  • Strong CYP3A inducers
  • Breast cancer resistant protein (BCRP) or P-glycoprotein (P-gp) substrate
  • Drugs that prolong the QTc interval
