Nystagmus is a visual disorder in which eye movement is involuntary and often in repeated motions. It is caused by a lack of coordination between the eye and the brain, and it alters how our brains perceive movement signals from the eye.
This condition is genetic and mainly develops between the ages of 2-3 months. It is often linked to inner ear problems, albinism, undeveloped optic nerves, and congenital cataract. Moreover, misuse of alcohol and drugs, vision issues, astigmatism, stroke, and taking of certain medications, such as lithium or anti-seizure, are some of the following factors that may increase the chances of acquiring this disease.
