Norepinephrine bitartrate is a drug that is also known as l-arterenol, levarterenol or l-norepinephrine. It is a sympathomimetic amine drug that is different from epinephrine because it has no methyl group on the nitrogen atom. It belongs to the family of catecholamines that act in the brain and the body as a hormone and neurotransmitter. It directly stimulates adrenergic receptors, giving rise to elevated blood pressure and heart rate.
