NICOTINAMIDE

Nicotinamide is a derivative of vitamin B3. It is joined into coenzymes nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide (NAD) and nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide phosphate (NADP), which are associated with different cell metabolic pathways, like cell respiration, lipid digestion and glycogenolysis. It additionally has anti-inflammatory effects.

Nicotinamide  is used in the following conditions:

Do not give Nicotinamide to the following:

  • Hypersensitivity to nicotinamide

Nicotinamide may have the following side effects:

  • Dry skin
  • Jaundice
  • Chronic hepatic damage
  • Hypoalbuminaemia
  • Irritation
  • Pruritus
  • Burning sensation

Precautions

Take extra caution in patients with the following medical conditions:

 

Interactions

Nicotinamide may interact with the following medicines:

  • HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors

Overdose& Brands
