NEOMYCIN + BACITRACIN

Bivalirudin

Neomycin + Bacitracin is an aminoglyoside with antimicrobial properties. It is similar to action as gentamicin, and binds to the 30S subunits of the bacterial ribosome, hindering protein synthesis and upsetting DNA synthesis. It is active against numerous gram-negative aerobes and against a few strains of staphylococci. Bacitracin inhibits bacterial cell well synthesis ad acts against numerous gram-positive microorganisms like staphylococci, streptococci, corynebacteria and clostridia, as well as some gram-negative species like Neisseria and Haemophilus influenzae.

Neomycin + Bacitracin is used to prevent minor skin injuries such as cuts, scrapes, and burns from becoming infected.

Do not apply Neomycin + Bacitracin to patients with the following conditions:

  • Hypersensitivity to aminoglycosides
  • Pre-existing nerve deafness
  • Neonates and infants less than 2 years

Neomycin + Bacitracin may have the following side effects:

  • Hypersensitivity reactions
  • Possibility of ototoxicity and nephrotoxicity if used in large quantities or on large areas for prolonged use

Take extra caution in patients with the following medical conditions:

  • Neuromuscular disorders
  • Hearing impairment
  • Pregnancy
  • Lactation
  • Liver and renal impairment

Interactions

Neomycin + Bacitracin may interact with the following medicines:

  • Neurotoxic, ototoxic or nephrotoxic drugs

Neuromuscular blocking agents
