METFORMIN-SAXAGLIPTIN

This drug is a combination of two diabetes medications: saxagliptin and metformin. These medications work together in different ways to lower your blood sugar levels.

Saxagliptin belongs to a drug class called dipeptidyl peptidase-4 (DDP-4) inhibitors

Metformin belongs to a class of drugs called biguanides. It reduces the amount of glucose (sugar) made by your liver, lowers the amount of glucose your body absorbs, and increases the effect of insulin on your body.

Along with diet and execise, this drug is used to control blood sugar levels in adults with type 2 diabetes.

This drug can cause serious side effects, such as lactic acidosis, inflammation of your pancreas, low blood sugar (hypoglycemia), and allergic reactions.

Common side effects include respiratory problems, urinary tract infections, and upset stomach.
