LOSS OF LIBIDO

Loss of libido is a typical issue that affects one of every five men and significantly more women sooner or later in their life.

It’s regularly connected to stress and pressure or life events like pregnancy, labor or breastfeeding.

Likewise a sudden loss of libido can be due to a personal, medical or life issue, which can be annoying to a couple in a relationship.

In case you’re worried about your libido, particularly if your lessened sex drive upsets you or influences your relationship, make an arrangement to see your doctor to talk about any hidden causes and conceivable medical or mental conditions.

Causes for loss of libido include the following:

  • Sexual problems
  • Medical diseases
  • Medications
  • Lifestyle habits
  • Surgery
  • Fatigue
  • Menopause
  • Pregnancy and breast-feeding
  • Psychological causes
  • Relationship issues

Symptoms of low sex drive include the following:

  • Having no enthusiasm for a sexual activity, including masturbation
  • Never or seldom having sexual dreams or thoughts
  • Being worried by the absence of sexual activity or dreams

DIAGNOSIS

By definition, you might be diagnosed to have hypoactive sexual desire if you lack sexual urges or desires, and if you are affected by it. Regardless of whether you fit this  diagnosis or not, your doctor can search for reasons why your sex drive isn’t as high.

Your doctor may also perform the following tests:

  • Pelvic exam
  • Blood tests to check hormone levels
  • Thyroid tests
  • Clinical chemistry to rule out diabetes, high cholesterol and liver disease

TREATMENT

Treatment may include sex education, counseling, medicines and hormone treatment.
