LICHEN PSORIASIS

Lichen psoriasis may mean two things: a combination of lichen planus and psoriasis or a combination of lichen sclerosus and psoriasis.

Once you’ve seen a rash on your body, it’s normal to be concerned. You should realize that there are many skin conditions that can cause skin variations from abnormalities. Two such conditions are psoriasis and lichen planus.

Psoriasis is a serious skin condition, and the lesions can appear on any part of the the body. Lichen planus likewise shows on the skin, yet is regularly found within the mouth. There is no known reason for lichen planus, and it typically vanishes on its own. Most cases last around 2 years. It’s not infectious, so it can’t be passed from individual to individual.

On the other hand, lichen sclerosus creates white patches on the skin that affects the genital and anal areas.

TYPES

The four different types of psoriasis are the following:

  • Guttate, showing up as little spots on the whole body
  • Inverse, described by red sores in body folds
  • Pustular, which comprises of white blisters encompassed by red skin
  • Erythrodermic, a red rash all throughout the body

 

SYMPTOMS

Symptoms of lichen psoriasis include the following

  • Red patches with gleaming scales
  • Plaque psoriasis regularly developing on the scalp, knees, elbows, and lower back
  • Itching

IAGNOSIS

When diagnosing lichen planus, your doctor will need to know the following:

  • Your signs as well as your symptoms
  • Your medical history

 

Your doctor may also do some skin testing and other lab tests.

 

 

TREATMENT

There is no remedy for psoriasis or lichen planus, yet there are medicines to lessen discomfort for both.

  • Ointments
  • Laser treatment
  • You must be aware of of potential triggers
  • Oral drugs
