Lap Band Surgery is one of the treatments or procedures that are used in obesity. It is a surgery where the procedure includes a belt around your stomach using a laparoscope. This band is created using silicone that can be adjusted. The band is placed under the skin of the abdomen using a port connected to it. 

Obesity is one of the main concerns when it comes to lap band problems. It is defined to be having a high body mass index compared to normal ones.   • Heartburn or acid Reflux:  Some patients may experience heartburn after Lap Band surgery.
  • Band Slippage: This may give you severe pain that will require the help of a professional.
  • Band Erosion/Port Infection: It is known to be rare. It causes a long term infection in some of the cases.
  • Esophageal Dilation: In this case, foods are stuck on your esophagus, causing dilation in the esophageal. 
  • Weight Loss: It is common in patients that have gastric surgery before. Weight gain is common for patients with lap band surgery. 

Lap band surgery may be performed by a professional. Symptoms and complications may depend from person to person. It is important to know about this before having surgery.

DIAGNOSIS

Diagnosis of Lap band problems will be started with your symptoms and other health problems. Your doctor may perform a physical examination and ask your history to know if you have the risk or you have the disease. There is equipment that helps diagnose lap band problems; it can be through endoscopy or some less expensive diagnosis. It is important to tell your doctor everything you are experiencing to avoid any problems.
