LAMAZE TECHNIQUE FOR CHILDBIRTH

Lamaze breathing was introduced by the French obstetrician named Fernand Lamaze.

Way back in 1950, he discovered psychoprophylaxis, a technique for preparing women during their pregnancy that includes physical and psychological teaching. This involves conscious tranquility and breathing management as a substitute to medication for the treatment of pain contraction throughout childbirth.

TYPES

Lamaze is a method for childbirth that depends on the idea which manages breathing to improve relaxation and lessen the recognition of pain. Some of the dominant techniques for childbirth managed breathing involves:

  • Slow and deep breathing
  • Sustaining a rhythm
  • Breathing through your nose or mouth
  • Staying your eyes closed or open
  • Concentrating on one easy physical thing

Other labor relief strategies suggested to create an inhalation technique more productive are:

  • Altering positions
  • Moving 
  • Slowly dancing
  • Massaging

TREATMENT

You must practice breathing techniques at the starting and end of every contraction. This is frequently referred to as a relaxing breath or cleansing.

During the first stage of labor

  • Begin with a slow deep breathing method as your contraction begins and then slowly exhale, taking all the tension physically from your head to toes. This is frequently referred to as breathing organizing. 
  • Slowly breath across your nose and then stop. Then exhale moderately across your mouth.
  • Every time you breathe, concentrate on calming a distinct part of your body.

During active labor

  • Begin with breathing organizing.
  • Inhale through your nose and out your mouth.
  • Keep your breath slow, and increase it as the strength of the contraction happens.
  • Calm your shoulders.
  • When the contraction peaks and your breathing increases, change to light inhalation, both alternate through your mouth.
  • As the contraction decreases, slow your inhalation and proceed to inhale in with your nose and out your mouth.

Alteration breathing

As you change to light inhalation during your labor, alteration breathing can assist to manage your feelings of exhaustion.

  • Take a breathing organizing.
  • Concentrate your attention on just one thing.
  • During the contraction, inhale and exhale through your mouth every 5 seconds.
  • Every fourth breath, give out a long breath.
  • When the contraction is finished, take a relaxation breath.
