JANUVIA

JANUVIA or SITAGLIPTIN PHOSPATE is a potent and otrally-active drug used for the inhibition of DPP-4 enzyme activity for a 24-hour period for patients with type 2 diabetes. This results in a 2- to 3-fold increase in the circulating levels of active GLP-1 and GIP, increased plasma levels of insulin and C-peptide, decreased glucagon concentrations, reduced fasting glucose, and reduced glucose excursion following an oral glucose load or a meal,

Use this medication precisely as recommended by your physician. Follow the prescription of your doctor carefully. 

Your physician’s medication dose is based on your condition, other medications or food supplements you may take, and your reaction to treatment.   • Pemphigoid
  • Peripheral edema
  • Back pain
  • Arthralgia
  • Anaphylaxis
  • Constipation
  • Cutaneous vasculitis
  • Hypoglycemia
  • Diarrhea
  • Fungal skin infection
  • Pain in extremity
  • Nasopharyngitis

Keep in mind that your physician has recommended this drug since he or she has known that the advantage to you is more noteworthy than the risk of adverse reactions. Many individuals utilizing this medicine don’t have serious side effects.

Interactions

JANUVIA may interact with the following medicines:

  • Cholesterol-lowering agents (e.g., statins, fibrates, ezetimibe),
  • Anti-platelet agents (e.g., clopidogrel),
  • Antihypertensives (e.g., ACE inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers, beta-blockers, calcium channel blockers, hydrochlorothiazide), 
  • Analgesics 
  • Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents (e.g., naproxen, diclofenac, celecoxib), 
  • Anti-depressants (e.g., bupropion, fluoxetine, sertraline), antihistamines (e.g., cetirizine), 
  • Proton-pump inhibitors (e.g., omeprazole, lansoprazole),
  • Medications for erectile dysfunction (e.g., sildenafil)

Inform your physician about the drugs you take, including over-the-counter medications, prescribed drugs, supplements, and vitamins.
