  • Previous severe reaction from isoniazid
  • Liver disease
  • Alcohol use
  • HIV infection
  • Kidney disease
  • Diabetes
  • Numbness/tingling of arms/legs (peripheral neuropathy)
  • Recent childbirth

Isoniazid Pyridoxine Hydrochloride may have the following side effects:

  • Peripheral neuritis
  • Psychotic reactions
  • Convulsions and optic neuritis
  • Various anemias
  • Agranulocytosis
  • Thrombocytopenia
  • Eosinophilia
  • Nausea
  • Hyperglycemia
  • Lupus-like syndrome

Take extra caution in patients with the following medical conditions:

  • Convulsive disorders
  • History of psychosis
  • Impaired liver or kidney function
  • Patients at risk of neuropathy or pyridoxine deficiency, such as diabetic, alcoholic, malnourished, uremic and HIV infection
  • Alcoholic patients
  • Pregnancy

Isoniazid Pyridoxine Hydrochloride may interact with the following medicines:

  • Acetaminophen
  • Itraconazole
  • Ketoconazole
  • Disulfiram
  • Moclobemide
  • Phenelzine
  • Valproic acid

Symptoms of overdose include the following:

  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Slurred speech
  • Dizziness
  • Tachycardia and urinary retention
  • Followed by stupor
  • Coma
  • Seizures
