INFLUENZA A H5

Influenza A H5 is one of the strain of influenza virus that usually affects birds. It is transmitted to human after close and prolonged contact with infected birds or the excretions or secretions of infected birds.

There is no evidence that any human cases of avian influenza have ever been acquired by eating properly cooked poultry products.

Symptoms of Influenza A H5 may start like the signs and symptoms of seasonal flu, including:

  • Fever
  • Upper Respiratory Tract Symptoms
  • Myalgia

Then, it may proceed to illnesses in the lower respiratory tract such as pneumonia. Other complications involved multi-organ failure, encephalitis, and septic shock.

DIAGNOSIS

To diagnose avian flu, the doctor might perform laboratory tests. Aside from checking the symptoms, your doctor may also ask your history or job, especially if you have been to place where an outbreak of the disease is present.

 

TREATMENT

Influenza antiviral drugs are available to get you heal faster. Painkillers can be used to relieve symptoms like fever and aches.
