HIDRADENITIS SUPPURATIVA

Hidradenitis suppurativa is a skin condition that results in the formation of painful, small lumps beneath the skin. The lumps may rupture, or tunnels may form beneath the skin. This condition primarily affects the armpits, breasts, buttocks, and groin when the skin rubs against another person’s skin.

This condition usually appears after puberty. It can last for years and worsen over time, having a negative effect on your daily life and emotional well-being. Medications and surgery can aid in the treatment of symptoms and the reduction of severe problems.

SYMPTOMS

Hidradenitis suppurativa could afflict a single or numerous parts of the body. Some of the signs and symptoms of the disease are as follows:

  • Blackheads. It’s common feature occurs in groups or in a “double-barreled” pattern, and it’s a tiny pitted patch of skin containing blackheads.
  • Painful pea-sized lumps. The condition typically begins with a single lump under the skin that lasts for weeks or months. They are most common in areas with hair follicles and a large number of sweat glands and oil, such as the anal area, groin, and armpits.
  • Tunnels. Tracts connecting the lumps may form under the skin over time. These wounds take time to heal and may leak pus with an odor.

Some patients with this illness simply experience mild symptoms. Stress, heat, excess weight, hormonal changes as well as humidity can all worsen symptoms. After menopause, the severity of the disease may lessen in women.

DIAGNOSIS
