HALOMETASONE

Halometasone is a drug which is known as a topical corticosteroid. It is usually applied to the skin as a cream or ointment. It has anti-inflammatory effects and inhibits the release of cytokines and other inflammatory substances of the immune system.

Halometasone is used in the treatment of skin diseases that are responsive to steroid treatments.

Do not use Halometasone on people with allergy to it. Do not use it under an occlusive dressing and apply it on large areas of the body. Do not use Halometasone for rosacae and leg ulcers. Avoid using it in children especially for long periods of time.

Halometasone may give rise to side effects such as the following:

  • Bone disorders
  • Muscle fractures
  • Muscle wasting
  • Sodium depletion
  • Increased blood sugar levels
  • Impaired wound healing
  • Infections
  • Menstrual irregularities
  • Too much sweating
  • Skin thinning
  • Hypersensitivity reactions

Precautions

There is a risk of absorption to the blood when you apply this drug on large areas of the body or on broken skin and under occlusive dressings.

 

Interactions

There are no known interactions of Halometasone with other medicines.

If you think you may have used Halometasone more than the recommended dose, seek medical help.
