GREASY HAIR

Greasy hair is a hair situation that’s common among people. Greasy hair may often accompany other oily and greasy skin conditions on the face and body, such as pimples.

Oily Hair, Dry Scalp

Yes, greasy hair offers you more awful hair days– your hair feels oily and looks bad. If it is not brought under control, greasy hair can result in many hair and scalp problems.

Acne

Greasy hair can enhance the development of acne on the skin surrounding the hairline along the scalp. This means you have a higher risk of having breakouts on temples, neck, forehead, and at the back of your ears.

Dandruff

Having greasy hair makes your scalp more prone to dandruff. The greasiness created by the skin or the scalp cause dead skin cells to accumulate and not slough off. That’s why those who have greasy hair will soon develop dandruff.

Hormone imbalance can cause skin changes resulting in oily hair.

TREATMENT

  • Greasy hair can be controlled by treating the causes that are within your reach.
  • Use less conditioner in greasy hair. Apply it on the ends and the body of your hair. Avoid the scalp. Also try to lessen your use of deep-conditioning.
  • Take the time to thoroughly wash out the shampoo and conditioner from your hair. This will prevent buildup on your hair and keep away greasy hair in the future.
  • Do not rub or massage hair too vigorously while shampooing. This can irritate the sebaceous glands and lead to greasy hair.
  • Wash your hair in lukewarm or cold Hot water strips your scalp of its natural oils, and can lead to over-production of sebum and hence greasy hair. Cold water not only enables you avoid greasy hair, it also gives your hair greater shine.
  • Limit your use of curlers, hair straighteners, blow dryers and some other haircare gadgets that generate heat and cause the hair to dry out.
  • Use a clay-based hair masks once a week. This can surely take in the oil, ease the scalp, and decrease the severity of greasy hair.
