GALLBLADDER CANCER

GALLBLADDER CANCER

Gallbladder cancer is cancer of the gallbladder, an oval-shaped organ that lies just below the liver in the upper abdomen. Gallbladder cancer is a distinctive disease where cells are usually found in the gallbladder tissues. This condition keeps bile and its fluid from going into the liver to digest fat and is hard to detect. It can be cured if it discovered at an early stage before it spreads to other organs.

Anyone is affected but females are more predisposed to the disease. A diet rich in cholesterol may cause a gallbladder problem or a gallstone, which can cause fat accumulation in the liver. To preventing liver and gallbladder problems, you must consume a healthy diet and maintain normal weight.

TYPES

Gallbladder cancer has various types, and this relies on where the cancer has started.

  • Adenocarcinomastarts in the gland itself
  • Squamous cell cancerstarts on the surface like surface cells in the gallbladder.

SYMPTOMS

Signs and symptoms of gallbladder cancer may include the following:

  • Fever
  • Stomach problems like having pain, nausea and vomiting, or bloating
  • Yellowish skin and whites of the eyes, alsocalled as jaundice
  • Abnormal lumps or swelling in the abdomen

DIAGNOSIS

Having a diagnosis of this may still be based on the age and general health of the patient, whether or not you have signs or symptoms on other parts of your body. Gallbladder cancer can be treated if it hasn’t spread yet to other parts your body, as the gallbladder can still be removed.

If cancer spreads, this would be alarming; but don’t worry and don’t lose hope because people with this kind of disease can still control its complications and can improve their quality life. Eating healthy foods like fruits and vegetables and exercise can help.

TREATMENT

Doctors have new ways of treating gallbladder cancer, such as palliative radiation therapy. Other treatments include chemotherapy, radiation therapy and surgery. One or more treatments can treat this type of cancer.
