FULVESTRANT

Fulvestrant is an injectable drug that keeps estrogen from being in contact with malignancy cells. The medication is for postmenopausal ladies who have HER2 proteins on their cancer cells and have attempted estrogen treatment.

Fulvestrant binds to estrogen receptors, creating a nuclear complex, prompting the down-regulation of estrogen receptor protein levels and stopping tumor development.

Precautions

Take extra caution in patients with the following medical conditions:

  • Patient with bleeding diatheses
  • Thrombocytopenia
  • Mild to moderate hepatic and severe renal impairment

 

Interactions

Fulvestrant may interact with the following medicines:

  • Increased risk of bleeding when taken concomitantly w/ anticoagulants
