FLUNISOLIDE

This medication is an inhaler used twice a day for long term control of asthma symptoms. Flunisolide belongs to a class of drugs known as corticosteroids that works by reducing swelling (inflammation) in the nasal passages.

This medication prevents irritation and swelling in the airways. It may also be used for other conditions as determined by your doctor.

Do NOT use Flunisolide spray if:

  • You Are Allergic To Any Ingredient In Flunisolide Spray
  • You Have An Untreated Infection In Or Around The Nose

If any of these apply to you, contact your doctor or health care provider right away.

Side effects of this drug include:

  • Headache
  • Nasal Irritation, Burning, Stuffiness, Or Dryness
  • Sore Throat
  • Sneezing
  • Severe Or Frequent Nosebleeds
  • Watery Eyes
  • Bloody Mucus In Nose
  • Loss Of Smell Or Taste
  • Nausea
  • Vomiting
  • Lack Of Energy
  • Depression
  • Joint Or Muscle Pain
  • Muscle Weakness
  • Bruise Easily

Stop using flunisolide nasal spray or get emergency medical treatment if more serious side effects occur (such as vision problems and white patches in the throat, mouth, or nose)

This medication may cause children to grow more slowly. Talk to your child’s doctor to see how long your child needs to use this medication or if you have concerns about your child’s growth while they are using this medication.

Tell your doctor promptly if any of these effects persist or worsen. Also, call your doctor if you have any unusual problems while using this medication.

Precautions

Before using nasal Flunisolide, tell your doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to it; or if you have any other allergies. This product may contain inactive ingredients, which can cause allergic reactions or other problems.

Before using this medication, tell your doctor or pharmacist your medical history, especially of:

  • Eye Problems (Such As Glaucoma, Cataracts)
  • Infections (Including Tuberculosis)
  • Recent Nose Problems (Such As Injury, Ulcers, Surgery)

 

Interactions

Corticosteroids (eg, prednisone) may interact with this drug because the risk of their side effects may be increased by Flunisolide spray. Tell your doctor about all your medications and any you start or stop using during treatment with Flunisolide.

Call emergency hotline if someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing.
