Eye retraction syndrome or Duane syndrome is a problem of eye movements. This condition hinders the outward eye movement close to the ear, and may likewise inhibit inner eye movement around the nose. As the eye moves to the inner position, the eyelids may halfway close and the eyeball pulls back or withdraws into its socket. Usually, just a single eye is affected. A few people with Duane disorder may have amblyopia or “lazy eye“, a condition that causes loss of vision in the affected eye. Most cases happen without different signs and symptoms.
