DTP-HIB Vaccine

DTP-HIB vaccine is a combined vaccine of adsorbed diphtheria, tetanus toxoid and acellular pertussis and of Haemophilus influenzae type b conjugate vaccines. It is a combination of active immunizing agents used to promote immunity against diphtheria, tetanus, pertussis and Haemophilus influenzae type b infections.This vaccine works by promoting the body to produce its own protection, or what we called antibodies, against these diseases.

 

Use this medication precisely as recommended by your physician. Follow the prescription of your doctor carefully.

The medication dose given by your physician is based on your health conditions, other medications or food supplements taken, and your reaction to the treatment. To diminish risks for adverse effects, do not increase your dosage, thus take it regularly, or take it as instructed by your physician. Do not use DTP-HIB vaccine in people with the following conditions:

 

  • Hypersensitivity
  • History of encephalopathy within 7 days with pertussis vaccine
  • Progressive neurological disorder

  • Inconsolable crying
  • Irritability
  • Seizures
  • Edematous reactions with erythema
  • Purpura
  • Cyanosis
  • Syncope
  • Guillain-Barre syndrome
  • Brachial neuritis
  • Vomiting
  • Diarrhea
  • Nausea
  • Malaise
  • Injection site reactions
  • Appetite loss
  • Somnolence
  • Restlessness
  • Nervousness
  • Erythema
  • Rash
  • Pruritus
  • Pallor
  • Hypersensitivity or anaphylaxis reactions

 

Keep in mind that your physician has recommended this drug since he or she has known that the advantage to you is more significant than the risk of adverse reactions. Many individuals utilizing this medicine don’t have serious side effects.

  • Hypotonic-hyporesponsive episode or crying for more than 3 hours within 48 hours or seizures within 3 days of pertussis vaccine
  • Immunosuppression
  • Severe febrile illness
  • Bleeding disorder
  • Thrombocytopenia
  • Postpone vaccination in patients with acute infection or severe febrile illness
