DOUBLE VISION

Double vision is a condition wherein you are seeing two objects at once when in fact there is only one object in front of you.

This often results when two eyes are misaligned and are aiming at different targets. This results to two non-matching images that will be sent to the brain of the viewer. When the brain receives the images and uses two images at once which do not match, double vision occurs.

Double vision can make it difficult for you to see objects at any distance. This can actually affect your spatial awareness, and may also impair your ability to drive. Children with double vision usually cover one eye, or they may squint or turn their heads so that they can see objects in front of them.

The symptoms of double vision are simultaneously see two separate images of the same object. This double vision often presents as a ghostly image that may also be confused with blurred vision.

Double vision may be horizontal wherein the images may appear side by side, or it may be vertical, wherein the images appear one on top of the other.
