DESLORELIN

Deslorelin is a luteinising hormone releasing hormone (LHRH) agonist. This drug is used in the treatment of precocious puberty, short stature, prostate cancer and endometriosis.

Deslorelin is used to treat adolescents with short stature and precocious puberty.

Do not give Deslorelin in patients with the following conditions:

  • Pituitary adenoma
  • Diabetes
  • Hypertension
  • Pregnancy or breastfeeding
  • Hepatitis
  • Heart disease

Deslorelin may give rise to the following side effects:

  • Erythema
  • Ecchymosis
  • Induration at the injection site

Precautions

Take extra caution in people with the following conditions:

  • Cervical problems
  • Elderly
  • Long term diseases
  • Pregnant and breastfeeding patients
  • Penicillin hypersensitivity
  • Liver disease
  • Heart disease
  • Kidney disease

 

Interactions

Deslorelin may interact with the following medicines:

  • Spironolactone
  • Levodopa
  • Phenothiazines
  • Dopamine antagonists
  • Digoxin
  • Sex hormones

If you think you may have used Deslorelin more than the usual recommended dose, seek medical help immediately.
