DANDY FEVER

Dandy Fever, also known as Dengue Fever, is a disease triggered by a virus distributed by the female Aedes mosquitos. Through blood-sucking bites, the female Aedes mosquito passes dengue-causing virus cells from infected individuals to healthy individuals.

Furthermore, millions of people become infected with Dengue every year. The western Pacific islands, Southeast Asia, Africa and Latin America are the areas most affected by dengue fever, according to the World Health Organization. Additionally, if you have previously been infected with a dengue fever virus, you are more likely to have severe symptoms if you get the virus again.

TYPES

Dandy fever is categorized as follows:

  • Mild Dengue Fever. This is characterized by a high fever and flu-like symptoms such as cough, sore throat, and headache.
  • Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF). This is a severe condition of dengue fever, and this can result in internal bleeding, a decrease in blood pressure, and even death.
  • Dengue Shock Syndrome (DSS). This is a serious dengue infection consequence that is linked to a high fatality rate. In addition, this is related to a second infection with a different virus serotype than the original.

SYMPTOMS

After entering the human host, the virus cells spread, and it takes 2-12 days for any dengue symptoms to appear.

Among the symptoms are:

  • Skin Infection
  • Vomiting
  • Pain in the eyes
  • Toothache
  • Sudden Fever
  • Muscle, joint, and bone pain
  • Swollen Glands
  • Internal bleeding
  • Nausea

DIAGNOSIS

Dandy fever can be hard to diagnose because its symptoms are similar to other diseases, such as Malaria, Chikungunya, Typhoid fever, and Zika Virus.

To diagnose dengue fever, the doctor will take a blood test sample to see if you have a virus infection. Also, they will undoubtedly ask you about your health condition and your travel history, and if you noticed that a mosquito has bitten you.

TREATMENT

There is currently no particular therapy for dandy fever in existence. However, there are medications to alleviate your fever and muscle pain, such as Acetaminophen. Also, if you feel dehydrated while recuperating from dengue fever, you should drink lots of water and take a rest.

Aside from medication, blood transfusion is also a treatment for this disease. This is a standard medical procedure in which the blood is injected via a narrow duct inserted into a vein in an arm. This can also assist in the replacement of blood lost during multiple surgeries.
