CREON

Pancreatin (equiv to lipase 10,000 Ph. Eur. u, amylase 8,000 Ph. Eur. u & protease 600 Ph. Eur. u) 150 mg

For the treatment of conditions associated w/ pancreatic exocrine insufficiency.

  • Should not be used in patients with the following conditions:
    • Hypersensitivity
  • Caution for use in patients with
    • Fibrosing colonopathy. Abdominal symptoms. Pregnancy.

GI disorders, abdominal pain, diarrhea.

  • Cystic fibrosis
    • Children >4 yr 500 lipase u/kg/meal, <4 yr 1,000 lipase u/kg/meal. Max: 10,000 lipase u/kg/day.
  • Other conditions associated w/ pancreatic exocrine insufficiency
    • Individualized dosage according to the degree of maldigestion & fat content of the meal. Required dose range: 25,000-80,000 lipase u/kg/meal, ½ of individual dose for snacks.

 

ADMINISTRATION

Should be taken with food: Must be swallowed whole and not chewed nor crushed. Granules may be mixed w/ soft food, or take w/ fluid (pH <5.5)
