COPPER PEPTIDE

Copper peptides are small proteins that stimulate the production of collagen. It have been on the cusp of antiaging skin care for a while. The excitement began several years ago with NIH-backed research on the ingredient Matrixyl (palmitoyl pentapeptide-3), showing its ability to stimulate collagen production in skin. Today, further studies on additional peptides continue to generate research news.

Studies have shown that copper peptide promotes the production of collagen and elastin in your skin. It also acts as an antioxidant and promotes production of glycosaminoglycans (such as hyaluronic acid).

Studies have also shown that copper-dependent enzymes help firm, smooth, and soften the skin quicker than most other anti-aging skin care products. In addition, copper peptides have been shown to remove damaged collagen and elastin from the skin and scar tissue.

Be wary of these claims, however, since the effects on your skin may be far less than is seen in laboratory testing. moderate use of copper peptides stimulates collagen synthesis and has antioxidant effect (by stimulating the antioxidant enzyme superoxide dismutase) but excessive use can have an opposite effect by increasing the levels of free copper and/or by triggering excessive production of metalloproteinases.

One of the most common side effects from using any topical cosmetic product that contains copper peptides is irritation of the skin. Symptoms typically include inflammation or irritation of the skin, redness, sensations of burning, and developing rashes. High levels of copper in the body can also lead to some more serious side effects.

Precautions

Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. Dosage is based on your condition. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.

Interactions:

Penicillamine (Cuprimine, Depen) interacts with COPPER. Penicillamine is used for Wilson’s disease and rheumatoid arthritis. Copper might decrease how much penicillamine your body absorbs. It will surely decrease the effectiveness of penicillamine.

Overdose of copper may result to a chronic disease in a long-term. If someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing, call emergency hotline
