CLIOQUINOL + HYDROCORTISONE

Clioquinol and hydrocortisone is a blended anti-infective and cortisone-like treatment. Clioquinol and hydrocortisone topical is used to deal with infections of the skin to offer relief from redness, itching, and soreness of many skin issues.

This combination medicine is used to deal with a lot of skin situations (e.g., eczema, fungal infection and skin infections such as ringworm/athlete’s foot/jock itch). This product includes two medicines. Clioquinol (also referred to as iodochlorhydroxyquin) is an antibiotic that works by preventing the growth of fungus/microorganisms. Hydrocortisone is a mild corticosteroid that works by decreasing swelling, redness, and itching that occurs in the affected skin.

This medicine should not be used in children younger than 2 years.

If you note any signs and symptoms of a hypersensitive reaction, such as rash, itching/swelling (especially of the face/tongue/throat), intense dizziness and problems in breathing, contact your doctor.

  • Dry skin can also occur. If this effect persists or worsens, inform your health practitioner or pharmacist directly.
  • Remember that your doctor has prescribed this medication because she or he has judged that the benefit to you is more than the side effects. Many people using this remedy do not have severe side effects.
  • Tell your health practitioner right away if any of these side effects occur: skin infection/burning, severe hair growth, skin thinning/discoloration, acne, stretch marks, and “hair bumps” (folliculitis).
  • Use of this medicinal drug for prolonged or repeated durations may additionally result in a new infection. Contact your physician if you are aware of any new signs and symptoms on the skin.
  • A very severe hypersensitivity to this drug is rare. However, if you have signs and symptoms of a severe allergy, along with rash, itching/swelling, excessive dizziness and difficulty in breathing, contact your doctor

Precautions

Before using this medicine, inform your medical doctor or pharmacist if you are allergic to clioquinol or hydrocortisone; or to different 8-hydroxyquinolines (e.g., iodoquinol); or to different corticosteroids (e.g., triamcinolone); or to iodine; or if you have any other allergies.

Before using this remedy, consult your doctor or pharmacist if you have: tuberculosis of the skin, viral skin/eye infections (e.g., herpes, chickenpox).

This medicine may additionally stain clothes, pores and skin, nails, or hair. Use carefully to keep away from contact with garments, nails, or hair.

Children can be greatly sensitive to the consequences of too much corticosteroid treatment. Consult your physician for more info.

During pregnancy, this medicine must be used only when needed. Discuss the risks and benefits along with your health practitioner.

This treatment may be dangerous if swallowed. If someone has overdosed and has extreme signs consisting of passing out or problem in breathing, call emergency hotline.
