CHLORZOXAZONE

Chlorzoxazone is a centrally-acting muscle relaxant that is used to deal with muscle spasms and the resulting pain. It acts on the spinal cord by depressing reflexes.

Uses

Chlorzoxazone is used to treat muscle spasms or muscle soreness. It is combined with rest, physical therapy and other treatments. It can help by relaxing the muscles.

Warnings

Get emergency medical support if in case you have any of these signs of allergy: hives, difficulty in breathing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue, or throat.

Side Effects

Significant: Elevated liver enzymes (i.e. ALT, AST, bilirubin, alkaline phosphatase).
Nervous: Drowsiness, dizziness, headache, light-headedness, malaise, overstimulation.
GI: Anorexia, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, abdominal distress, constipation, diarrhoea.
Hepatic: Jaundice.
Genitourinary: Urine discoloration.
Dermatologic: Rashes, petechiae, ecchymosis, urticaria, pruritus.
Potentially Fatal: Rarely, hepatocellular toxicity.

Precautions

This medication may impair your thinking or reactions. Watch out when you drive or do whatever that requires you to be alert.

Drinking alcohol can increase some side results of chlorzoxazone.

Before using chlorzoxazone, tell your health practitioner if you use other drugs that make you sleepy (like cold or allergy medicines, sedatives, narcotic pain medicinnes, sleeping pills, muscle relaxants, and medications for seizures, depression, or anxiety). They may increase the sleepiness when you take chlorzoxazone.

Overdose & Brands

Overdose signs are vomiting, nausea, drowsiness, diarrhea, dizziness, muscle weakness, shallow breathing, headache or fainting.
