CHLORMEZANONE

Chlormezanone is a drug used to treat anxiety and is a muscle relaxant. Its use was discontinued in many nations from 1996 on, due to infrequent but serious circumstances of toxic epidermal necrolysis of the skin.

It is used in the treatment of anxiety disorders and insomnia.

This drug should be used with caution in patients with impaired kidney or liver function, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

  • Drowsiness, weakness, nausea, dizziness, skin rash, flushing of skin, confusion, excitement, depression, dryness of mouth. Cholestatic jaundice may occur.
  • Potentially Fatal: Erythema multiforme, Stevens-Johnson syndrome and toxic epidermal necrolysis.

Before using Chlormezanone, tell your doctor about your current list of medications, over the counter products that you may be taking such as vitamins or herbal supplements. Also reveal about your allergies, pre-existing diseases, and current health conditions such as pregnancy or any upcoming surgery. Some health conditions may make you more susceptible to the side-effects of the drug. Take this medicine as advised by your doctor or follow the directions that are printed on the product insert. The dosage of this medicine is based on your condition. Tell your doctor if your condition persists or worsens.

  • Do not take alcohol while you are using this medication.
  • Avoid driving or operating heavy equipment while taking this medicine unless you know how it is going to impact you
  • Consult your physician for other precautions and if you develop fever and rashes

Symptoms of overdose are dizziness weakness, drowsiness, renal tubular necrosis, nausea, cerebral edema, hyperglycaemia, hypoglycaemia, stomach pain, encephalopathy, coma, liver damage and death
