CETRIAXONE SODIUM

Ceftriaxone sodium is a third-generation cephalosporin antibiotic drug that is utilized to battle microbes in your body.

Ceftriaxone sodium is given through a vein (IV) or through a shot, as a muscle injection. It is used to treat serious or hazardous types of bacterial diseases, for example, meningitis.

It may likewise be used to treat lower respiratory tract or urinary tract infections, pelvic inflammatory (PID), uncomplicated gonorrhea, and ear or skin diseases.

Cetriaxone sodium is used in the following:

  • Treatment of infections due to sensitive gram negative and gram positive bacteria
  • Surgical prophylaxis
  • Prophylaxis of meningococcal meningitis

Do not give Cetriaxone sodium to people with the following conditions:

  • Hypersensitivity

Cetriaxone sodium may have the following side effects:

  • Rash
  • Eosinophilia
  • Thrombocytosis
  • Leukopenia
  • Diarrhea
  • Pain
  • Induration andtenderness at site of injection

Take extra caution in patients with the following medical conditions:

  • Hypersensitivity to penicillins
  • Gallbladder abnormalities
  • Liver dysfunction and significant renal disease
  • Impaired vitamin K synthesis or low vitamin K stores
  • History of gastrointestinal disease especially colitis
  • Pregnancy
  • Lactation

Cetriaxone sodium may interact with the following medicines:
