Brinzolamide inhibits carbonic anhydrase in the ciliary process of the eye, resulting in less aqueous humour discharge and lower intraocular pressure. Timolol is a -adrenergic receptor blocker that is nonselective. It lowers intraocular pressure by inhibiting the production of aqueous humour and perhaps enhancing sympathetic outflow.
