BLADDER SPASMS

When your bladder muscles shrink, bladder spasms happens. Bladder Spasms are often being associated with overactive bladder (OAB). Another term that can be linked to the overactive bladder is urge incontinence. Urge incontinence can also be identified as an unexpected impulse to urinate.

In some circumstances, bladder spasms can lead to an infection, like UTI or urinary tract infection. With proper medication, UTI can be avoided, so do not worry too much.

SYMPTOMS

The impulse of urinating is the most usual symptom of bladder spasms.

Here are some symptoms you might notice if OAB causes your bladder spasms:

  • Urinating often for almost eight times or more a day
  • Waking up every night just to pee for two or more times

There are some symptoms you might feel if UTI is the cause of your bladder spasms:

  • If you are experiencing pain in your pelvis
  • Urine that appears to be cloudy
  • If your urine has a strong odor

DIAGNOSIS

Before performing any tests, your doctor may:

  • Check out your medical records
  • Takedown some notes about the drugs you are taking
  • Do a physical exam

Your doctor may inspect your urine to check if there is the presence of bacteria or infections. If there is a presence of any disease, you may undergo some tests to identify what kind of bladder issues you might be suffering.

Several tests evaluate tyour urine, and others assess your bladder pressure. If the results of the tests didn’t come up for a particular cause, your doctor might conduct a neurological exam. In this case, it can help them dig deeper if there are specific issues.

TREATMENT

Medications are excellent treatment options, but exercising and having a healthy lifestyle is a great option, too, in alleviating bladder spasms.

Balancing the foods and drinks that you eat is an excellent way of having a healthy lifestyle, in this case, you can avoid foods or beverages that can cause bladder spasms. As a result, it may help you in reducing the chances of suffering from bladder spasms.

You cannot avoid bladder spasms all the time, but you can reduce the chances of having it by doing the following:

  • Balance your liquid intake– Consuming a little amount of liquid may exasperate your bladder while consuming a tremendous amount can make you pee often.
  • Stop taking too much caffeine, and alcohol– These fluids can increase the chances of you to pee more often.

Exercise regularly and continue having a healthy weight. People who move their bodies for half an hour most of the time are said to have a healthier bladder. Giving up on smoking is the right choice, too. Balancing the food and beverages you take will also help you improve your lifestyle and reduce your chances of getting sick.
