Betanidine is a drug that acts by specifically hindering the transmission in postganglionic adrenergic nerves. It acts primarily by blocking the secretion of noradrenaline at the nerve endings. It then causes the noradrenaline stores to be deleted in the peripheral sympathetic nerve terminals. It doesn’t counteract the secretion of catecholamines by the adrenal medulla.
