Contents: Salbutamol sulfate
Indications: Relief of bronchospasm in bronchial asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema & other reversible obstructive pulmonary diseases.
Dosage: Adult 10 mL. Childn >12 yr 5-10 mL, 7-12 yr 5 mL, 2-6 yr 2.5-5 mL. To be taken 6-8 hrly.
Administration: Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals.
Contraindications: β-blockers. Pregnancy.
Special Precautions: Hyperthyroidism, DM, CV disease.
Side Effects / Adverse Reactions: Fine skeletal muscle tremor, tachycardia, headache, dizziness & arrhythmias (rare).
Drug Interactions: Effects antagonized by propranolol & other β-blockers & enhanced by xanthines.
Pregnancy Category (US FDA): Category C: Either studies in animals have revealed adverse effects on the foetus (teratogenic or embryocidal or other) and there are no controlled studies in women or studies in women and animals are not available. Drugs should be given only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the foetus.
