5 Ways to Boost Work-from-home Productivity

As the world continues to struggle with the COVID-19 pandemic, working from home is becoming the preferred alternative for many people, and with good reason.  According to the U.S. Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), people who work from home are far less likely to get COVID-19 than those who have to commute to their workplace. The CDC stated that it appears people who go to a workplace are twice as likely to get COVID-19 than those who work from home, noting that the commute to work can be as risky as the job itself. As such, the agency advises people to work from home if they can during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Whether you’re already working from home or planning to switch to the work-from-home (WFH) setup, here are five ways you can boost your productivity while working from home:

1. Set a schedule.

Setting a schedule can help you adhere to a routine and fairly consistent WFH rhythm which in turn will make it easier for you to maintain work-life balance.

2. Designate an official home workspace.

A dedicated workstation at home keeps you away from home distractions which results in better productivity. It is just like having a separate room for studying so that you can concentrate better and deliver results.

3. Get dressed.

Putting on fresh clothes that you feel good in will empower you to approach your day with confidence and purpose. It can also help draw a line in your head between work and the rest of your life.

4. Work with management so that you are equipped with efficient tech and productivity tools.

Keep all software updated and make sure your computer does not crash unexpectedly. Equip yourself with apps for project management tracking, chat/messaging, and video conferencing.

5. Make time for wellness.

Increase your movement with exercise throughout the day. Get adequate sleep. Eat a healthy diet. Manage stress. Take vitamin supplements to enhance wellness, strengthen immunity, and boost productivity.

Consult your doctor before taking any dietary supplements.
