30 Soluble Insulin 70 Isophane Insulin is a drug that belongs to a class of drugs known as intermediate-acting insulins. It can lower blood glucose levels. The drug allows body tissues to take up glucose inside the cells. The uptake process happens when insulin binds to its receptors that are found in adipose tissue and muscles.

Insulin also restricts the release of glucose from the liver simultaneously.

Precautions

Take extra caution in patients with the following medical conditions:

  • Associated diseases, particularly infections and feverish conditions
  • Renal or hepatic impairment
  • Diseases that affect the adrenal, pituitary or thyroid gland
  • children and adolescents below 18 years of age
