10 tips to ease flu symptoms

 

All of us has experienced flu and felt its miserable symptoms like a runny nose, headache, fever and cough. So, if you are stricken with flu, here are some ways on how to ease the symptoms.

1. Get some rest

If you are already experiencing flu signs and symptoms, its best that you just stay at home and rest. Rest and good sleep can strengthen your immune resistance so that you will feel better within just a few days.

2. Drink plenty of fluids

Drink some fruit juices and some soups like chicken soup. Hydration can loosen up mucus and make you breathe better

3. Treat your fever

A high temperature means that the virus is trying to overcome your immune resistance. Take some fever medicines like paracetamol to reduce your fever.

4. Mind your cough

If you are coughing, sip some warm tea or soup to clear your airways. Use prescribed cough medicine. Expectorants are medicines that can help loosen mucus so you can breathe better.

5. Take a hot bath

It’s necessary to be clean and fresh to keep those viruses away. This also helps relieve body aches and pains.

6. Inhale some steam

This can help soothe your itchy throat and make you feel better. You can add a few drops of eucalyptus oil in hot water and breathe in for best results.

7. Turn on the humidifier

Humidifiers can ease nasal congestion and relieve coughs. Make sure you keep your humidifier clean from molds and bacteria.

8. Suck on some lozenges

Lozenges can help soothe an itchy throat and can keep you from coughing

9. Use saline drops

Place a few saline drops on one nostril, then gently blow out the saline and mucus. This can help relieve nasal congestion

10. Consult your doctor

If your cough and fever wouldn’t go away after 5 days, you should visit your doctor. Your doctor will prescribe you with some medicines that can help with your flu symptoms.
