FENBUFEN

Fenbufen is a  NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug). This is used to relieve symptoms like fever, inflammation and swelling cause by musculoskeletal and joint disorders.

This medication is used to treat pain, inflammation and stiffness associated with  Arthritis. Fenbufen may also be used in other conditions to be determined by your doctor.

This drug may cause blurred vision. Avoid activities requiring alertness or clear vision such as driving until you are sure you can perform such activities safely. Limit the use of alcohol and certain other medications that cause drowsiness.

Side effects of this drug may include:

  • Anorexia
  • Vomiting
  • Abdominal Pain
  • Heartburn
  • Diarrhoea
  • Black Stool
  • Constipation
  • Dry/Sore Mouth
  • Depression
  • Dizziness
  • Headache
  • Numbness
  • Wheezing, Dyspnoea
  • Visual Disturbance
  • Tinnitus
  • Rash
  • Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis
  • Oedema
  • Photosensitivity
  • Fatigue

Possible fatal side effects include:

  • Erythema multiforme
  • Stevens-Johnson Syndrome

Precautions

Before taking this drug, tell your doctor or pharmacist:

  • If you are allergic to it or if you have any other allergies.
  • If you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
  • If you are to undergo any surgical procedure.
  • If you are taking herbal, prescription and non-prescription drugs.
  • If you have certain medical conditions such as:
    • Gastric Ulcer
    • Cardiac Disorders
    • Renal or Hepatic Impairment

 

Interactions

Drug interactions may either lessen the effectiveness of this drug or heighten the risk for severe side effects. It’s important to inform your doctor all the medication including prescription and non-prescription and herbal medicines you are taking or going to take.

Possible interactions with this drug are:

  • Alcohol
  • Aspirin
  • Benorylate
  • Choline Magnesium Trisalicylate
  • Cyclosporin A
  • Digoxin
  • Enoxacin
  • Levofloxacin
  • Phenylbutazone
  • Phenytoin
  • Warfarin
  • Zidovudine

Call emergency hotline if someone has overdosed and has serious symptoms such as passing out or trouble breathing.
